The recent Cobalt coffee morning run by Jenny Bailey and Judith Anderson at Emmanuel Church Rooms raised the wonderful sum of £1,662.

Jenny and Judith would like to thank all their helpers and the people who baked delicious cakes for their sale. It all helped to make it a fantastic morning.

Charlton Kings Men’s Probus club meets at 9.30am today in Sacred Hearts Church Rooms.

Tony Condor will tell the story of the growth of Gloucester’s railways. The pioneers faced much opposition from rivals, agreeing routes and deciding between horse power and steam whilst keeping the shareholde­rs happy.

Their efforts helped the nation choose a gauge for its National rail system when broad met narrow in the battle of the guages.

Next week Peter Covey Crump will give an illustrate­d talk about three former Soviet states – Armenia, Georgia and Azerbaijan.

A MEMBER of our local Policing Team will be available for questions at the Parish Council Office, 26 Church Street today from 1 -2pm and again on Tuesday unless there is a local

emergency requiring their attention.

Emmanuel Kitchen Community Cafe is open tomorrow from 11.45am-1.30pm serving light lunches of soup, baked potatoes and a hot pudding.

All are welcome and there are no charges but donations to cover costs are gratefully received.

Volunteers are needed for bulb planting on Saturday starting at 8.30am.

Charlton Kings in Bloom volunteers are a small group of people who look after the War Memorial and all the black flower planters around the village.

They are planting 3,000 daffodil and crocus bulbs on Saturday including some snowdrops on Newcourt Green (off Cirenceste­r Road near Sainsburys) starting at 8.30am.

If anyone can provide an half an hour or so you would be most welcome just a trowel or spade required.

Councillor Stephen Cooke will hold a community Parish Council surgery for Leckhampto­n and Warden Hill residents on Saturday from 10.30am-noon in Morrison’s Cafe, Caernarvon Road.

Cheltenham General Hospital League of Friends hold an Autumn Fair from 9.30-12.30pm on Saturday at St Paul’s and St Jame’s Church Hall in Poole Lane, Up Hatherley.

Cheltenham Rotary Club present two performanc­es of The Last Night of the Proms at the Bacon Theatre, 4pm and 7.30pm on Sunday at the Bacon Theatre.

All monies raised go to charities, Headway, Sue Ryder, Porthhaven and Thirlestai­ne Park.

The planning committee of the parish council meet at 7.30pm on Monday in the Stanton Room next to the library.

Holly Cook and Tamara Young formed the Syrinx Duo in 2006 and with their harp and flute will play music by Bach, Heath, Lierberman­n and Shankar at the Lunchtime Concert in the Town Hall On Tuesday November 6 at 1.05pm. Lunches will be on sale from midday. Tickets cost £5 at the door.

The Georgian Spa Probus Club for men meets from 9.30am on Tuesday at Sacred Hearts Church Rooms.

Charlton Kings Annual Toy Sale runs from November 10 -17 from 9.15am-4.30pm in the Baptist Church. This sale each year raises funds for Acorns Childrens Hospice.
