No comparison between closures

Gloucestershire Echo - - LETTERS & OPINION -

✒ THE letter by Brian Hughes (Letters, November 1) needs a response as I am not too young to remember the closure of the Promenade outside Cavendish House.

There is no comparison between the level of disagreement between that closure and Boots Corner.

I have never seen so many adverse comments in social media and in the press as concerning the closure of Boots Corner and it is no exaggeration to say it is around 95 per cent against.

It cannot be in any way a political issue when so many people are against the closure so please do not bring our MP into the argument.

I cannot see how anyone can say the town centre has been greatly improved by the removal of traffic when buses and taxis can still use Boots Corner.

I respectfully suggest Brian Hughes reads all the adverse feedback before commenting further.

One point I do agree is that we all know this is never going to be an 18month experiment as the councillors don’t listen to public opinion. Chris Owen Cheltenham
