AROUND 1,000 daffodil bulbs have been planted at Winston Churchill Memorial Gardens thanks to volunteers and staff from Cheltenham Borough Council.

The Friends of Winston Churchill Memorial Garden and the council’s green space team also planted 200 summer snowflake bulbs (Leucojum Aesivum ‘Gravetye Giant’) which will flower with the daffodils in the spring.

Around 4,000 red and yellow tulips (Tulip Clusiana var Chrysantha) are also set to be planted early next year to give a further burst of colour.

Graham Gage, Friends of Winston Churchill Memorial Gardens coordinator, said: “It’s always good fun when we come together to plant the bulbs and the gardens is a wonderful space which benefits everyone.

‘’We’re also celebrating our national Green Flag Award for the gardens which recognises the best green spaces in the country.
