MAYFIELD House Hotel at Crudwell is profitable as it is picturesque and on the market with Colliers International at £1.65million.

The 29-bedroom hotel is a wellestablished business aimed squarely at mid-market tourism and commercial trade - with significant levels of repeat business.

Peter Brunt, a hotels director with Colliers International, said it was easy to understand why the Mayfield House Hotel was a favourite with Classic Car clubs.

“Occupying a prominent position on the A429 between Cirencester and Malmesbury, the hotel makes a perfect place to explore the main Cotswolds towns such as Bourton-on-the-water, Burford and Tetbury - with its Royal connections,” he said.

“Westonbirt, Dyrham Park, Bath and Cheltenham are within easy driving distance and the popular Cotswold Water Park is another major attraction.”

Standing in just under an acre of well-kept garden, Mayfield House has been a hotel since 1965 and before that was a veterinary practice run by the Pettifer family.

TV journalist Julian Pettifer spent his childhood there.

The original building - thought to have been a farmhouse - has been extensively extended and there are now two smaller buildings, The Stables and The Cottage.

There is a conference room seating 40-45 and main restaurant seating 50 in two separate raised areas. The restaurant was originally a stable for holding the animals under treatment.

In addition, there are 29 letting bedrooms - and The Stables on the ground floor is dog friendly.

Peter Brunt says: “Mayfield House is easy to reach from West London and the M4 corridor and the new Cotswold Airport.

“Our clients bought the hotel in 2007 and have set up the business at the mid-market, 3-star AA rosette trade but are now selling in order to concentrate on other business activities.”
