Sinckler’s quality was evident when he faced Cinderford

-

ENGLAND’S victory over Australia was built on a dominant platform, and one historically the Aussies cannot cope with.

This was not a fluent Red Rose display, and at times it was muddled without the precision required to beat the very best.

The Aussies are no mugs, but this was not a great Australian side to tour these shores.

They have been on a rotten losing streak, have had breaches of the player code of conduct, and when you’re down the injury list always seems to get longer.

When lady luck is not smiling on you also every half decision goes against you, notably the shoulder shot from Owen Farrell to stop a certain try.

In my book that was a penalty try all day long, and this could have changed the complexion of an England dominated second half.

What this result did though was put a smile back on Eddie Jones’ face.

Overall, he would have been satisfied how the autumn internationals went for England, with three wins from four and in the meantime he has unearthed some players who have put their hands up for the Six Nations selection and more importantly the World Cup

Both props Ben Noon and Kyle Sinckler have had a great series with Sinckler being outstanding.

I remember him playing for Esher against Cinderford some years ago, he looked a special player that day, and he is not too worried to have a chat with the opposition either.

If he can remain fit Sam Underhill will be the seven moving forward.

It will be interesting to see what Jones does with incredibly hard-working Mark Wilson; every good side has a Wilson, he could become the next Richard Hill at six?

Finally, Jones has picked Owen Farrell at 10. England’s problem area I believe is still the midfield with a lot riding on the shoulders of Manu Tuilagi - if he stays fit up to and beyond the World Cup England’s hopes of doing well will significantly increase.

The 2019 Six Nations will be greatly anticipated with Ireland and Wales bang in form.

England’s start in the competition could not get any harder with an away game against the Irish. If they win that the tide of expectation will suddenly gain pace.

But more importantly that word ‘belief’ will be mentioned once again in the England camp, allowing them to dream of lifting the Web Ellis Cup once again.
