CIRENCESTER went down 2-1 to league leaders Yate despite a late rally.

The home side made the breakthrough when a free kick into the six-yard box was only partially cleared for Jack Twyman to pounce and volley home from close range.

Shortly afterwards Yate released Ben Brooks to the edge of the area but his shot was pushed onto the post by ‘keeper Marko Radovanovic.

Cirencester began to press forward again leading to a Aidan Bennett shot that home keeper Lewis Thomas, on loan from Forest Green, failed to hold and Alan Griffin was quick to tuck it inside the right post.

Yate finished the half strongly but it remained all square going to the break.

Within minutes of the re-start Radovanovic made an excellent close range save to deny Olly Mehew and just as it looked like Cirencester were working up a head of steam the home side broke through again when a cross from the left drew Radovanovic from his goal line and dropped to Brooks who tucked it inside the post to regain the lead.

Cirencester pressed forward down their flanks and Thomas pulled of a double save as Yate stood firm to take the three points.

CIRENCESTER Development went out of the GFA Trophy as they were beaten 3-1 at Western League side Cribbs.

They fell behind after 42 minutes but levelled in the second half, only for two late goals to seal their fate.
