Joan’s 64 years of service is honoured with lifetime award
JOAN Griffiths of Painswick Tennis Club was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Gloucestershire LTA awards ceremony.
The awards are a joint initiative between The Lawn Tennis Association (LTA), the Tennis Foundation, partner and 40 County/ national tennis associations, including Gloucestershire.
Joan was given the award after 64 years of service to the game and she has been responsible for providing many opportunities for players at club level and promoting the Gloucestershire Tennis League, where she is still setting up new leagues for more veteran

Coach of the Year: Nick Edwards
Club of the Year: Redmarley TC
Community Venue: Winchcombe TC
Official of the Year: Simon Corbishley, GLTA and East Gloucestershire Club
Competition of the Year: Inter Club Over 60’s League
Boy Junior Player Mary Eyre Award: James Findlay, East Gloucestershire Club
Girl Junior Player Mary Eyre Award: Rachel James, Lydney TC
Cathie Sabin OBE, Immediate Past LTA President, presented the awards and Redmarley Tennis Club and Winchcombe Community Venue are now in the running to be awarded a national award, which could see them collect a £5,000 facility grant.
