CIRENCESTER Town fuelled their play off hopes with a 4-0 win against Fleet Town at the Corinium Stadium.

Goals from Aidan Bennett, Ben Whitehead, Jack Freeman and Alan Griffin wrapped up a comfortable victory to extend their unbeaten home run.

Despite the marginal score line, it could have been more for Cirencester who hit the woodwork on three separate occasions.

Two second half goals in two minutes took the game away from Fleet and made the uphill task much more diffi- cult.

Cirencester Town manager Charlie Griffin said: “It’s nice to get back to winning ways after last week, we have had a good week and we knew it was going to be a real tough game up against Fleet.

“I thought we were on the front foot, we started really well, got a great goal with great movement and a great finish by Aidan.

“We really came into it and they’re never easy games, fair play to Fleet, they play some great football.”

The Centurions started very strongly and took the lead within the opening 10 minutes with Aidan Bennett’s right footed strike proving to be too much for Brendon Norris.

Louis Spalding almost doubled the lead when his long ranging effort caught Norris off his line, but the strike came off the crossbar.

Whitehead found the second just before half time when he rounded the goalkeeper and despite the very tight angle, he managed to hook the ball into the far corner.

Cirencester netted the third after Tommy Anderson laid the ball off to Freeman whose strike couldn’t be kept out.

Just a minute later, Griffin made it four with a thumping low driven strike into the far corner to end any hope Fleet may have had of getting something from the game.

It could have been more with Freeman’s drilled cross finding Whitehead once again, but he could not direct his header on target.
