» THE CLC ladies and men’s teams competed over the same Clopton Park course in their Midland Cross Country League divisions.

In the men’s race in Division Two, the club registered one of its best performanc­es for a long time, with four runners in the top 50 and all six of its A-team scorers well inside the top 100.

Will Ferguson turned in a stellar performanc­e, finishing second in a time of 36:32.

He was followed home by Tom Kabala, 21st in 39:26 while Iain Porter was 32nd in 40:23 and Sam Baylis 49th 41:17. Louise Fievet bagged 71st place in a time of 42:41 and Max Baylis was 83rd in 43:14.

Will Pearce and Paul Lockyer finished 104th and 116th respective­ly, while Joel Freeland was 155th and supervet David James registered a superb top 200 finish in 191st.

The other CLC finishers were Hedley Phillips in 194th, Bradley Coates in 213th and Chris Thomas in 222nd.

The CLC men’s

A team finished seventh, an incredible leap from their 11th placing in the first meeting.

After two races, the men lie 10th in their division, with Tom Kabala 22nd overall.

The ladies, meanwhile, made their second outing in Division One, with Helen Knight once again leading them home with a 51st place finish in a time of 31:06

Six seconds behind her, Karlien Heyrman was 53 rd in 31:12 while the most improved performanc­e of the day for the ladies came from Rachel Vines, who finished 79th place in 33:14.

Fourth scorer was vet Amanda Steer, 88th place in of 33:44 while Sophie Longmore was 111th and Nicola Weager 147th as the ladies finished 13th and stay 13th overall in the division after two races.
