Long trip is crucial after home loss

CINDERFORD slumped to a heavy home loss against Old Elthamians.

The Kent side are top of National One, but it does mean their next game away to Darlington Mowden Park suddenly becomes very important.

If they come away with a win then 2018 will have been a very good year for the club.

In recent weeks, the Old Pats have shown some improved form with their first victory last week, and this time they pushed Barnstaple all the way to gain a much-deserved losing point.

They still have a long way to go to move out of the bottom three in South West Premier, but progress is progress.

Cheltenham gained a much-needed victory against fellow strugglers Old Bristolians; this keeps them in the hunt to get off the basement in Western Counties North.

Another club enjoying a great season is Hucclecote, who sit second in Gloucester Premier; the latest success was against Frampton Cotterell.

They are a free flowing side that have scored more points than anyone in the league to date this season and may that continue.

In the same league Gordon League overcame Gloucester Old Boys. These two giants of local rugby remain in the bottom three, but League will enjoy bragging rights for now.

My Cirencester side travelled to Old Colstonians and after enjoying large amounts of possession failed to capitalise on our dominance especially in the first half.

The result has pushed us down to fifth in a congested Gloucestershire One top half with five points between the top five sides.
