Broken leg mars comeback win

-

A BROKEN leg for Cory Simpson took some of the gloss off Evesham United’s 4-3 win over AFC Totton.

Conner Yorke put the visitors in front after two minutes and in the 33rd minute the visitors had the ball in the net again, but the assistant referee flagged for offside. Following a discussion the referee overruled his assistant and awarded the goal.

The Hampshire side took their 2-0 lead into half time but Evesham were back in it when Cory Simpson crossed for Marley Thomas to poke home.

The game was halted for a long period whilst Cory Simpson received treatment on the pitch, before being carried off.

Not being put off by Simpson’s injury, some good link up play between Davies and Thomas was rewarded on 67 minutes, when they found Kane Simpson whose superb strike levelled the score.

The equaliser seemed to fire up Totton and with the assistance of some poor defending they replied by retaking the lead when Craig Feeney slotted the ball past Andy Hannah.

In the final minute of the 90 a towering header from Kai Fisher ended up in the back of the net, giving United a deserved equaliser and him his first goal for the club in his home debut.

Then, in the seventh minute of injury time, Thomas drove into the box and his cross was met by Kane Simpson, completing an amazing comeback.
