Volunteers were first at scene after victim CJ was attacked

-

THE trial into the death of CJ Hall heard how volunteers were first on the scene to come to his aid.

Christopher ‘CJ’ Hall, 28, of Queen’s Retreat , died on July 8, after he was murdered in the lower High Street the previous evening.

The jury had heard that volunteers from the patrol group were first to arrive on the scene to help CJ.

First responders Kate and Terry were with him, as police and paramedics arrived.

Kate held his hand and talked to him as he lay on the ground.

The Cheltenham Guardians said after being made aware of an incident, the pair went towards the alleyway.

“Some way into the alleyway Guardians found a seriously injured male who was later identified as Christopher ‘CJ’ Hall,” a statement said.

”Guardians were active in the alleyway for 20 - 30 minutes before leaving CJ. We remained within the police cordon for a number of hours assisting the police and paramedics when asked to do so, as well as giving statements and submitting evidence.

“Guardian Kate had remained on the floor next to CJ until she left the alleyway. She held his hand and talked to him. She exuded gentleness and compassion at the most frightening of times.

“CJ wasn’t on his own. We very much hope that CJ’S family and friends can take some comfort from this. Our thoughts and sympathies remain with them.”
