Duku approach rejected
CHELTENHAM Town have turned down an approach for striker Manny Duku from Torquay United.
The Gulls, top of National League South, are managed by exrobins boss Gary Johnson.
It was Johnson who brought Duku to Whaddon Road on a two year deal from Hayes & Yeading United last summer.
The 26-year-old recently returned to his parent club after a loan spell at National League side Barnet.
He was then sidelined by tendonitis, but played for 45 minutes in the Gloucestershire Senior Cup against Slimbridge last week, followed by an hour in the reserve match against Bristol Rovers on Tuesday.
The Dutchman was also on the bench for Cheltenham’s home League Two fixture against Macclesfield Town on Saturday, with target man Tyrone Barnett sidelined for up to six weeks with a hamstring injury.
Duku’s last taste of first team action for the Robins was in the 2-0 home defeat by Lincoln City on September 29. He has one goal for Cheltenham, rescuing a point at Macclesfield Town on August 21 in Johnson’s final match in charge.
