SHURDINGTON

-

If you are not being romantically wined and dined on February 14, why not go along to The Century Hall where Cheltenham Horticultural Society meets at 7.30pm?

This month’s speakers are Alun and Jill Whitehead who will tell you about their national collection of Siberian irises.

The talk is followed by free coffee and biscuits and a chance to make new friends.

» Rather saddened to see the beautifully-crafted wooden noticeboard on the outside wall of Century Hall has been replaced by a metal and glass one.

Looks like someone may need to be in charge of unlocking it to allow our many hirers to put their notices in.

The same kind of noticeboard is now on the Millennium Hall wall and again needs someone to be in charge of putting notices in.

The piano in Century Hall has been tuned and tested as every year by Shaun King.

Supastrikers meet in the Century Hall tomorrow lunchtime, followed by the Mineralogical Society in the evening. Beavers and Scouts in Millennium same night.

It does appear that although Happy Art found the hall ideal, they did not appear to have enough students, so will be shutting down after their last session.

Besides the frequent party hire, we have baby ballet on Mondays, art and Subud Group on Tuesdays, dog training on Wednesday, keep fit on Thursdays, and Alzheimer on some Wednesdays and Fridays.

Also lots of children’s parties weekends in both halls, NCCPG and Astronomers one Saturday a month.

Cubs in Millennium on Mondays, Beavers and Scouts on Fridays. Monday to Friday we also have Preschool in Millennium Hall.

Romanian families will be meeting again for a learning experience for their children on Saturday, February 23.

Another annual event on the way is the Scouts county cooking competition in both halls on Sunday, February 24.

The two winning teams of four of this event will be eligible to attend the SW Regional Cooking competition on Sunday, March 10, also in our halls. Looking forward to these two events and seeing what menus the Scout teams will come up with.

Both events start about 10am and guests are invited to quietly walk around to view, without speaking to the busy young teams cooking away. » Half term starts on February 18, so no Preschool or Scouts. » Paul Calleja-gera paulcg@shurdington.org 07770 480272
