David only found water in his rain gauge on six days in January, giving a monthly total of just 14mm – the driest January he has recorded.

January 2014 had 12 times this recorded amount at 165mm.

Despite the lack of rain the radiation level was nothing special (2013 had far brighter days) but January 27 was the sunniest day of the month.

As for nightly temperatures the average was 0.51°C , whereas in 2016 the figure was 3.18°C and the coldest night this year was January 29, when the temperature fell to -6.0°C.

Every Thursday at 10.30am, Go Vocal meet at the village halll led by Linda Corcoran,.
