Ex­tra spa­ces to help dur­ing school hours

» TEWKES­BURY Bor­ough Coun­cil is cre­at­ing ad­di­tional park­ing bays to ease con­ges­tion and help make the Winch­combe Abbey school-run safer for fam­i­lies.

The coun­cil cur­rently al­lows driv­ers with school park­ing per­mits to use Back Lane car park - next to Winch­combe Abbey Pri­mary School at pick-up and drop-off times.

How­ever, mem­bers of the com­mu­nity have be­come con­cerned about the num­ber of cars us­ing thr car park and the lack of spa­ces.

Fol­low­ing dis­cus­sions with the school and the lo­cal com­mu­nity, coun­cil of­fi­cers iden­ti­fied ar­eas of the car park that could be re-aligned to ac­com­mo­date 11 more spa­ces.

Coun­cil­lor Ron Furolo, lead mem­ber for fi­nance and as­set man­age­ment, said: “It’s been a pleasure to be able to help re­solve this is­sue for the school com­mu­nity.”
