Grif­fin leads way as goal spree strength­ens play-off push

CIRENCES­TER Town moved into the top four of the South­ern League Di­vi­sion One South as they smashed 12 goals in two games.

An 8-2 home win over Bide­ford was fol­lowed by a 4-1 mid­week win at Larkhall.

Cirences­ter pro­duced a clin­i­cal dis­play of fin­ish­ing as they beat Bide­ford, aveng­ing their 4-0 de­feat ear­lier in the sea­son.

An en­ter­tain­ing first half pro­duced five goals with Alan Grif­fin open­ing the scor­ing for Cirences­ter af­ter seven min­utes.

That lead was wiped out by Sean Down­ing but the home side re­stored the ad­van­tage when Jor­dan Mor­ris set up Jack Free­man who smashed the ball into the top left cor­ner.

Grif­fin scored his sec­ond but on the stroke of half time Cirences­ter con­ceded a sec­ond when Ryan Turner latched onto a through ball.

But the sec­ond half be­longed to the home side.

Ellis Dun­ton volleyed home aand Grif­fin added two more ei­ther side of a strike from Ben White­head.

Grif­fin struck again at Larkhall who played the fi­nal 35 min­utes with 10 men.

White­head also grabbed a brace with Ai­dan Ben­nett scor­ing the other goal as they strength­ened their po­si­tion.
