Griffin leads way as goal spree strengthens play-off push
CIRENCESTER Town moved into the top four of the Southern League Division One South as they smashed 12 goals in two games.
An 8-2 home win over Bideford was followed by a 4-1 midweek win at Larkhall.
Cirencester produced a clinical display of finishing as they beat Bideford, avenging their 4-0 defeat earlier in the season.
An entertaining first half produced five goals with Alan Griffin opening the scoring for Cirencester after seven minutes.
That lead was wiped out by Sean Downing but the home side restored the advantage when Jordan Morris set up Jack Freeman who smashed the ball into the top left corner.
Griffin scored his second but on the stroke of half time Cirencester conceded a second when Ryan Turner latched onto a through ball.
But the second half belonged to the home side.
Ellis Dunton volleyed home aand Griffin added two more either side of a strike from Ben Whitehead.
Griffin struck again at Larkhall who played the final 35 minutes with 10 men.
Whitehead also grabbed a brace with Aidan Bennett scoring the other goal as they strengthened their position.
