Hol­lamby strikes gold at duathlon worlds

BOUR­TON Road­run­ners’ Mar­garet Hol­lamby won the gold medal in the LV65 cat­e­gory at the ITU Duathlon World Cham­pi­onships at Pon­teve­dra, Spain.

She cap­i­talised on her re­cent suc­cess in the Stan­dard Dis­tance Bri­tish Duathlon Age Group Cham­pi­onships as she com­pleted the 10k run in 48:02, the cy­cle stage in 1:25:07 and the 5k run in 26:48, fin­ish­ing two min­utes faster than her near­est ri­val.

At the Lon­don Marathon, Bour­ton had five run­ners and first home for the club was Steph Holton in 3:57:43, with David Turn­bull close on her heels in 3:59:25.

Liz Hul­cup over­came her early sea­son in­juries to achieve a good­for-age time of 4:34:11, while Gary Holton, run­ning for Wa­ter Aid, clocked 4:48:30. Triathlon run­ner Nick Harper fin­ished in 4:54:39.

Dar­ren Long opted for a lo­cal marathon at Strat­ford -upon-avon and was re­warded with a PB of 2:53:39, fin­ish­ing sixth and first MV45, while in the half marathon An­drew Peas­ton fin­ished in 1:39:52.

Gil­lian James and Jan­ice Townsend de­cided to try the Blen­heim 7k race
