Hollamby strikes gold at duathlon worlds
BOURTON Roadrunners’ Margaret Hollamby won the gold medal in the LV65 category at the ITU Duathlon World Championships at Pontevedra, Spain.
She capitalised on her recent success in the Standard Distance British Duathlon Age Group Championships as she completed the 10k run in 48:02, the cycle stage in 1:25:07 and the 5k run in 26:48, finishing two minutes faster than her nearest rival.
At the London Marathon, Bourton had five runners and first home for the club was Steph Holton in 3:57:43, with David Turnbull close on her heels in 3:59:25.
Liz Hulcup overcame her early season injuries to achieve a goodfor-age time of 4:34:11, while Gary Holton, running for Water Aid, clocked 4:48:30. Triathlon runner Nick Harper finished in 4:54:39.
Darren Long opted for a local marathon at Stratford -upon-avon and was rewarded with a PB of 2:53:39, finishing sixth and first MV45, while in the half marathon Andrew Peaston finished in 1:39:52.
