Cobblers say Waters can leave
BILLY Waters has been made available for transfer by Northampton Town.
The 24-year-old spent the second half of the 2018/19 campaign back at Cheltenham Town on loan, having spent two seasons with the Robins between 2015 and 2017.
He scored four goals in 10 starts and eight substitute appearances for Michael Duff’s side.
Cobblers boss Keith Curle confirmed on Monday that Waters’ future lies away from Sixfields, where he has one year left to run on his contract.
When asked about his situation at the end of March, Waters said: “I want to be playing regular football.
“I can’t afford to have another year like the last two, not playing and then being loaned out during the second half of the season.
“I need to be up and running from the start, playing and enjoying my football and I am certainly doing that here.”
Ex-robins youth team midfielder Sam Foley was one of eight out-of-contract players released by Northampton, who finished one place above Cheltenham in the League Two table, ending 15th.
