Pump up the vol­ume of cy­clists as fes­ti­val rides back into town

DIG out your best ly­cra, pump up your tyres and get your bike at the ready – pedal power re­turns to the streets this week­end.

Chel­tenham Fes­ti­val of Cy­cling re­turns to Pitville Park on Sun­day with a range of fun, fam­i­lyfriendly ac­tiv­i­ties cel­e­brat­ing ev­ery­thing cy­cling.

It runs from 10am-5pm with a num­ber of free ac­tiv­i­ties.

All ages and abil­i­ties are wel­come and ac­tiv­i­ties in­clude ob­sta­cle cour­ses, bike demos and much much more.

Project spon­sor Tracey Crews said: “We’ve worked hard with many cy­cling clubs across Chel­tenham to de­liver a fun event.

“We’re also proud to part­ner with Chel­tenham Part­ner­ships No Child Left Be­hind Year of Ac­tion who will have some fun arts and crafts ac­tiv­i­ties avail­able.

“We hope that there will be some­thing for ev­ery­one and that we’ll see many take part on the day.”

Chel­tenham Dis­trict Scouts Fete and Fun­day takes place on Satur­day, May 18 at Mont­pel­lier Gar­dens from 11am-4pm.

A GRAN­ITE stone will be un­veiled at the Me­mo­rial Ground, Tuf­fley Av­enue, Glouces­ter – home of Old Cryp­tians and Wid­den Old Boys rugby clubs – at noon on Satur­day.

It will be fol­lowed at 1pm by a match be­tween The Cher­ryp­ick­ers and a North Glos Com­bi­na­tion side with Wid­den and Old Cryp­tians play­ing at 3pm.

The first City of Glouces­ter 10k hits the city streets for the first time on Sun­day from 9am, start­ing at fin­ish­ing at Glouces­ter Park.

The an­nual Save the Coun­try­side Walk takes place on Sun­day, start­ing at 2pm from Stan­tons Drive, Swin­don Vil­lage.
