Two out three ain’t bad
» FC LAKESIDE won two trophies but narrowly missed out on a treble success in the second round of Cheltenham Youth League Finals.
In the Under-11 final, FC Lakeside Whites started really well and stormed to a 2-0 lead, however Charlton Rovers Blues hit back and slowly took control, running out 4-2 winners.
The Under-12 Lakeside Blues also got off to a flyer against Cinderford Town as they scored three goals before half time but Cinderford pegged them back before Lakeside’s fourth goal sealed the match.
Lakeside won their second final in the Under-13 game against Ruardean Hill Rangers.
The Forest boys went in 2-1 up at half time but Lakeside then showed what they could do with some slick passing football and scored three goals without reply to go 4-2 up.
Ruardean got a goal back, and then equalised right on the whistle to force a penalty shootout, which Lakeside won 5-4.
The Under-14 game was between Gala Wilton and Abbeymead Rovers Cheetahs.
Gala were Division One winners whilst Abbeymead were runners up in Division Two and the league difference did show as Gala won 5-0.
The last match of the day was Leckhampton Rovers v Tewkesbury Town for the Under-18 trophy and the Tewkesbury lads ran out 6-2 winners in a very high energy and competitive match.
