Martin Cooks up vic­tory

BOUR­TON Road­run­ners members have been tak­ing part in a wide va­ri­ety of events, with Martin Cook win­ning the North­leach 10k, the sixth event of the club’s an­nual race se­ries in a bril­liant time of 42:26.

Next home was Jake Aster (43:48), fifth over­all in the race, hav­ing won the com­pan­ion 3k event last year.

First lady for Bour­ton was Ni­amh Shoe­mark in 47:59 and other Bour­ton run­ners were Diana Dee (49:08), John Gib­son (51:35), Su­san Hunt (53:43), David Turn­bull (56:59), Gill Car­rick (58:39), and Sally Gaden run­ning her first 10k (62:26).

Lynn Hud­son was third LV65 at the Sand­ford Park Lido Sprint Triathlon and three Bour­ton run­ners took part in the Glouces­ter 10k - David Rees (48:24), Linda Ed­wards (sec­ond claim 51:43) and Sharon Rees (59:34).

Five members took on the Hook Nor­ton Firkin 5 miles, in­clud­ing Nick Harper, Su­san Hunt, Jan­ice Townsend, Jeanette Brew and Donna Harper.

The Bath Two Tun­nels Half of­fered three al­ter­na­tives for this 13.1 mile event, with Linda Ed­wards elect­ing to run the ‘re­turn ticket’ two-lap ver­sion and she com­pleted the course in 1:59:22.

Steph and Gary Holton took part in the Orig­i­nal Moun­tain Marathon (OMM) Lite at Can­nock Chase, a two-day ori­en­teer­ing event.

On day one they were 75th and on day two gained 15 places fin­ish­ing 60th and ninth in the mixed vets group.

Ed­wards took on the New­port Marathon and cov­ered the ru­ral course in 4.11.11, a mas­sive PB, fin­ish­ing fifth in her age group.
