Gloucestershire Echo - - CELEBRITY WELLBEING -

■ SPENDING long periods sitting or lounging around is linked to around 70,000 deaths a year in the UK.

It also costs the NHS more than £700million a year treating Type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and colon, endometrial, and lung cancers that result, says research in the Journal of Epidemiology and Community Health.

The £700m estimate is conservative as sedentary lifestyle is likely to be associated with other cancers and musculoskeletal and mental health disorders not included in the analysis, said the authors.
