Dumbleton youngsters hit centuries for counties
TWO young Dumbleton batsmen both scored big centuries for their counties at the weekend.
Tommy Boorman (Under-14) scored 152 not out for Gloucestershire against Worcestershire on Sunday.
Boorman, who also scored 109 not out for Dumbleton II on Saturday, batted all the way through the innings to help his team reach 299 from their 50 overs – which proved too many for Worcestershire who finished on 224 in reply.
Meanwhile, Dan Holland played a superb innings of 133 not out for Worcestershire against Somerset Under-17s.
Holland went in at number four and put on more than 200 with Ollie Walker as Worcester scored 308 and then bowled Somerset out for 163.
Holland and Boorman are two of the 36 junior players at Dumbleton who represent their county age group sides across boys and girls’ cricket.
The club has invested heavily in developing their junior section over the last 10 years and they are now starting to really see their efforts pay off with some excellent juniors now playing regularly for their senior league teams.
