Gloucestershire Echo - - SPORTING INDEX -

GLOUCESTERSHIRE Under 14 boys suffered a three wicket defeat to Oxfordshire after being bowled out for 137.

Glos started well, reaching 38-0 in six overs thanks to Sam Brooks (22) (Bristol YMCA) and Jack Studley (14) but both fell in quick succession

Ahmed Syed (29) (Thornbury) and Soban Irfan (13) (Downend) dug in and repaired some of the damage then Charlie Brook (19) (Cirencester) and Toby Rice (19) (Lodway) restored some calm as before a flurry of late wickets saw Glos bowled out for a below par 137 in the 42nd over.

In reply Ahmed Tabraiz (1-18 from 10 overs) (Pak Bristolians) and Brook (1-41) struck early to give their side hope.

Glos continued to chip away with wickets at regular intervals. Charlie Allan (2-23) (Thornbury) was impressive and there were also wickets for Irfan (1-11) and Syed (1-14).

With seven wickets down and more than 30 needed the game was in the balance but Oxon held their nerve thanks to 36 not out from Charlie Turner.
