Purdy looks back on mad five years at club

Gloucestershire Echo - - RUGBY UNION -

HENRY Purdy has reflected on a “mad five years” at Gloucester, saying he has come out of it as a stronger character.

The 25-year-old centre or winger was released last month and posted a message on Instagram to thank the club and fans.

Purdy scored 28 tries in 82 appearances after joining Gloucester from Leicester in 2014 and he was part of the side that won the European Challenge Cup in 2015.

“I’d just like to take the opportunity to thank @officialgloucesterrugby for the journey,” said Purdy, who is yet to sign for another club.

“It’s been a mad five years with both highs and lows, of course. But plenty of amazing memories that will remain with me for a lifetime and some adversity that will make me a stronger character.

“Thank you to the fans, you are Gloucester Rugby. Thanks to the all staff and coaches who have helped me grow as a person and an athlete, and to the boys both past and present... it’s been an honour and a privilege to play alongside you.

“The bonds and friendships have given me so much to be grateful for.”
