Midfielder Smith signs permanent Bath deal
TRANSFER-LISTED midfielder Tom Smith has left Cheltenham Town to sign a permanent deal with Bath City.
The 21-year-old signed a two year deal at Whaddon Road last summer after being released by Swindon Town.
He spent most of last season on loan with the National League South Romans, where he had also impressed during an earlier temporary spell at Twerton Park in 2017/18.
Smith made one substitute appearance for Cheltenham, in the Carabao Cup first round victory over Colchester United, going on in the 74th minute and missing a penalty in the shoot-out.
Smith’s departure means that all three players placed on the transfer list by Robins boss Michael Duff at the end of last season have now departed.
Manny Duku was signed by Torquay United, while fellow forward Liam Mcalinden left by mutual consent and has been training with Walsall.
Duff said: “We’ve freed up a bit of money and they’ve gone to play at clubs where they will play a bit more.”
