David looked at his rain gauge on 13 occasions in June to find a total of 137mm for the month.

Surprisingly it was an identical amount to 2012 with the same number of rainy days as this year.

This brings the total this year to 335mm which reflects earlier drier than usual months.

Night temperatures for the month too were lower than usual for June, excepting for 2015 when the average night temperature was 8.53°C compared to 9.17°C this year.

Today, Thursday July 11, at 7.30pm, Uckington & Elmstone Hardwicke Women’s Institute meet in the Village Hall.

The church service at St Mary Magdalene, Elmstone Hardwicke on Sunday, July 14, at 10.45am, will be Holy Communion.

The Monday Club meet on June 22 at 10am at the Uckington and Elmstone Hardwicke Village Hall.

The annual day trip on Monday, August 19, will be to the seaside and funfair at Barry Island.

The next afternoon whist drive is at the village hall on Tuesday, July 23 at 2pm. Entrance, raffle, refreshments and prizes £1.

Every Tuesday, from 10.30am-noon, there is a Chatterbox coffee drop-in at St Lawrence Church, Swindon Village.

The Strawberry Fayre takes at The Moat House, Uckington on Saturday, July 20.

As well as strawberries and cream, scones and cakes, there will be a bar, entertainment, vintage cars and tractors, 1950s memorabilia and the delightful grounds of the Moat House.

Admission is £2 adults, £1 for children under 12.
