David looked at his rain gauge on 13 oc­ca­sions in June to find a to­tal of 137mm for the month.

Sur­pris­ingly it was an iden­ti­cal amount to 2012 with the same num­ber of rainy days as this year.

This brings the to­tal this year to 335mm which re­flects ear­lier drier than usual months.

Night tem­per­a­tures for the month too were lower than usual for June, ex­cept­ing for 2015 when the av­er­age night tem­per­a­ture was 8.53°C com­pared to 9.17°C this year.

To­day, Thurs­day July 11, at 7.30pm, Uckington & Elmstone Hard­wicke Women’s In­sti­tute meet in the Vil­lage Hall.

The church ser­vice at St Mary Mag­da­lene, Elmstone Hard­wicke on Sunday, July 14, at 10.45am, will be Holy Com­mu­nion.

The Monday Club meet on June 22 at 10am at the Uckington and Elmstone Hard­wicke Vil­lage Hall.

The an­nual day trip on Monday, Au­gust 19, will be to the sea­side and fun­fair at Barry Is­land.

The Straw­berry Fayre takes at The Moat House, Uckington on Saturday, July 20.

As well as strawberri­es and cream, scones and cakes, there will be a bar, en­ter­tain­ment, vin­tage cars and trac­tors, 1950s mem­o­ra­bilia and the de­light­ful grounds of the Moat House.

Ad­mis­sion is £2 adults, £1 for chil­dren un­der 12.
