Baking, Making Shaking WI is a fun loving group launched in 2015 which meets on the first Thursday of each month at Bishop’s Cleeve Football Club, Katye Lane, 8–10pm.

Come along as a visitor and enjoy the speaker, tea/coffee and cake for only £3, make friends and have a giggle.

On September 5, The Severn Freewheele­rs will visit to talk about their night time role.

Gotheringt­on Singers concert Summertime is on Saturday, July 13 at St Nicolas Church, Swindon Lane, at 7.30pm.

St Michael’s Holiday Club will host special sessions on the theme of Treasure Island in Woodmancot­e School, Station Road.

This scheme, which offers a range of play opportunit­ies, will run from August 12-16, 8.30am-2.30pm, for one-sevenyear-olds.

Breakfast and lunch will be included in the club.

Susie Mcguire has formed a social group aimed at people aged 60+ in the area.

The idea is to meet for cinema, theatre, meals out and general get togethers.

The Sir Frank Whittle Pairs Challenge is being played at Cirenceste­r Golf Club on Tuesday, October 1, this year, open to ladies and gentlemen as part of fund raising to furnish a new Exhibition Hall and Education Centre at the Jet Age Museum, at Gloucester Airport, the memorial to the importance and history of aviation in Gloucester­shire.

It is entirely run by volunteers with free admission and relies on donations.

It provides fun and informatio­n for families and enthusiast­s alike.

This is an opportunit­y for a day of enjoyable, but not seriously competitiv­e, golf for an excellent cause in a beautiful location. Entry £79 per pair.

There will be a table top sale at Denley Hall, Bishop’s Cleeve on the first Saturday of the month from 10-11am.

Refreshmen­ts are available and cakes are for sale. There is also a raffle. Cancer charity Cobalt is looking for volunteers for fundraisin­g events.

Sunday, July 21 is the Highnam Rare Plant Fair when the cafe needs help with baking cakes in advance, and on the day serving refreshmen­ts and help with car park, 9.30am-1pm or 1-5pm.

August 2-4, Vintage Extravagan­za at South Cerney. Help is needed to run the tombola stall, selling show programmes or helping at the show entrance.

On August 1 and 5, help is needed to set up and pack down the Cobalt stall. This is quite a physical task.

Cleeve Ladies Probus Club meetings take place in Bishop’s Cleeve Tithe Barn at 9.45am.

Bishop’s Cleeve Methodist Church Wednesday Fellowship welcomes new members to all meetings in the Church Hall at 2pm.

Cleeve Carers and Friendship group reaches out to those in the community who may not be carers but are home alone or would like to meet with others for friendship.

Meetings at 2pm in St Michael’s Hall. This group is looking for an organiser to run monthly mininus trips.

August 13 is a garden party for members only.

July 16, Nick Gazzard will speak about the The Hollie Gazzard Trust and the competitio­n is words of four letters or more from Hollie Gazzard Trust.

Gotheringt­on, Woolstone and Oxenton WI meets at 7.30pm on the fourth Wednesday of the month in Gotheringt­on Village Hall.

As well as a wide range of speakers, there is a weekly art group, monthly lunches, craft groups and workshops, tai chi and social events.

On July 24, the talk is entitled Fun with a G String, speaker Philip Collins.

Visitors and new members are always welcome.

Do you have difficulty getting to your local library? Bishop’s Cleeve Library Club, which meets on the third Tuesday of the month, can meet your needs as transport can be provided.

St Michael’s Hall hosts North Cotswold Foodbank sessions every Friday, from 9.45-11.15am.

Donations to the food bank can be left at Bishop’s Cleeve Parish Council office, Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays 9am-3pm, Wednesdays 10am-3pm.

The Independen­ce Trust representa­tive for the area is Andrew Wood, who is a mental health outreach worker.
