» FORMER Cheltenham Town loan defender Emmanuel Onariase has joined Dagenham & Redbridge on a one-year deal after leaving Rotherham United.

The 22-year-old joined the Robins from Brentford during the 2016/17 season, returning for a second loan spell, this time from Rotherham, the following year.

The former West Ham United youngster spent most of last term with National League side Dagenham and has now made the permanent switch.

He made a total of 16 League Two starts and one substitute appearance for Cheltenham, scoring once in a 2-1 defeat at Notts County.

Dagenham, managed by Peter Taylor, finished 18th in the National League last year.

Another ex-robins loanee, Mitch Brundle, has joined them from Dover Athletic this summer, with midfielder Jack Munns moving in the opposite direction, signing a two-year deal at The Crabble.

Camden Duncan appeared for Merthyr Town in their 2-0 friendly win over Swansea City Under-23s on Saturday.

The left-sided defender or midfielder was released by Cheltenham Town at the end of last season after completing his two year scholarship.

Former Robins loanee and Swans professional Lee Lucas netted the second goal for Merthyr, who also included summer signings from Cinderford Town Alex Harris and Lewis Binns.

Duncan, 18, spent time on loan at Hellenic League Premier Division club Lydney Town in 2018/19 and he was also included in the senior match day 18 for both League Two and Checkatrade Trophy matches.

Of his age group, only midfielder Archie Brennan was awarded a professional contract.

Will Dawes, Tyreece Briscoe, Tom Handley, Olly Price, Miles Scott, Ioan Richards and Fin Clift were the others released.
