Day 1: Arrive this afternoon at our hotel for 4 nights. Day 2: Today we go to Haverthwai­te and board a train (usually steam) through the beautiful scenery of the Leven Valley to Lakeside. From here we cruise on Lake Windermere to Bowness. Free time for lunch and we finish our day out at the award-winning Lakeland Motor museum. There’s a fantastic array of cars of every kind plus the Campbell Bluebird exhibition. Day 3: Today we have a circular tour around the centre of the Lake District National Park passing Rydal Water, Grasmere Lake, Esthwaite Waters and Coniston Water along the way with stops at Grasmere, Ambleside, Hawkes head and Coniston. Day 4: A trip into the nearby Yorkshire Dales National Park. First stop at Carnforth - the painstakin­gly restored train station. Setting for the 1946 film ‘Brief Encounter’. Next we enjoy arguably the best train trip in England the famous Settle to Carlise line. Day 5: We leave for home after a last breakfast.
