James leads personal bests over 5,000m
DOM James was one of 13 Cheltenham Harriers to set personal bests at the Midsummer 5,000m races at the Prince of Wales Stadium.
James clocked 15:05.2 Alex Lee 15:15.4 and Joe Turner 15:16.0, followed by Charlie Jones (15:34.2). Richard Dare (15:35.2) and Marcus England (15:36.4) set bests, Doug Wight (15:38.7) missed a PB by a second and Dan Thomas (16:06.5) was 17th.
Oli Mott was pacemaker for the B race and won in 15:52.6. Dave Aubrey (16:08.8) and Jon Barnes (16:11.9) were third and fourth and Eliot Taylor (16:19.4) seventh. Henry James, 16, impressed with 16:23.9 on his 5,000m track debut in eighth and Chris Cleary posted a PB of 16:43.2.
Mark James (16:48.3) was the second fastest veteran over the races, Tom Radley set a PB of 17:05.1 on his debut and 20th-placed Dan Schofield ran 17:21.7.
The C race saw V45 Dan Minors set a PB of 17:22.6 before Mike Hughes ran a 17:33.1 PB and Martin Soakell (17:42.1) was fifth.
Matt Lambourne (17:51.9), debutant Jamie Penton (17:53.5), Steve Linton (17:54.4) and Gareth Edwards (17:55.2) made it 26 Harriers sub-18 minutes followed by Steve Hall (18:00.8) and Clark Lawson (18:36.5).
In the C race Naomi Eaton was second lady in 18:47.5 and Rachel See lowered her PB to 18:56.2 before the D race saw Jacob Pickering pace sub-19 minutes as second placed Nick Holliday produced the eighth fastest 2019 time by an over 60 athlete in the UK with 18:42.7.
Jonathan Floyd (18:47.2), Ben Lees (18:50.6) and Matt Wood (18:58.6) had PBS, Steve Bradley ran (19:20.6) and Hannah D’ambrosio (19:58.9) was eighth lady.
V60 Mike Ede posted 20:26.8, with Ella Burfitt (20:37.7), Sarah Sheppard (20:38.9) and Caroline Cotterell (20:45.4) completing the 39-strong Harriers contingent.
At the Bourton one-mile, Mark James (4:51) was second veteran, Schofield recorded 5:08 and Paul Barnes stopped the clock at 6:00.
George Watson posted 4:16.5 as he won the B mile race at the BMC regional meeting in Oxford.
Wight (16:50) was first at the Cheltenham parkrun where Georgia Palmer (22:11) and Kayla Garland (22:50) were second and third ladies and Dave Tomlin (17:57) second at Wotton.
