James leads per­sonal bests over 5,000m

DOM James was one of 13 Chel­tenham Har­ri­ers to set per­sonal bests at the Mid­sum­mer 5,000m races at the Prince of Wales Sta­dium.

James clocked 15:05.2 Alex Lee 15:15.4 and Joe Turner 15:16.0, fol­lowed by Char­lie Jones (15:34.2). Richard Dare (15:35.2) and Mar­cus Eng­land (15:36.4) set bests, Doug Wight (15:38.7) missed a PB by a sec­ond and Dan Thomas (16:06.5) was 17th.

Oli Mott was pace­maker for the B race and won in 15:52.6. Dave Aubrey (16:08.8) and Jon Barnes (16:11.9) were third and fourth and Eliot Tay­lor (16:19.4) sev­enth. Henry James, 16, im­pressed with 16:23.9 on his 5,000m track de­but in eighth and Chris Cleary posted a PB of 16:43.2.

Mark James (16:48.3) was the sec­ond fastest vet­eran over the races, Tom Radley set a PB of 17:05.1 on his de­but and 20th-placed Dan Schofield ran 17:21.7.

The C race saw V45 Dan Mi­nors set a PB of 17:22.6 be­fore Mike Hughes ran a 17:33.1 PB and Martin Soakell (17:42.1) was fifth.

Matt Lam­bourne (17:51.9), debu­tant Jamie Pen­ton (17:53.5), Steve Lin­ton (17:54.4) and Gareth Ed­wards (17:55.2) made it 26 Har­ri­ers sub-18 min­utes fol­lowed by Steve Hall (18:00.8) and Clark Law­son (18:36.5).

In the C race Naomi Ea­ton was sec­ond lady in 18:47.5 and Rachel See low­ered her PB to 18:56.2 be­fore the D race saw Ja­cob Pick­er­ing pace sub-19 min­utes as sec­ond placed Nick Hol­l­i­day pro­duced the eighth fastest 2019 time by an over 60 ath­lete in the UK with 18:42.7.

Jonathan Floyd (18:47.2), Ben Lees (18:50.6) and Matt Wood (18:58.6) had PBS, Steve Bradley ran (19:20.6) and Han­nah D’am­bro­sio (19:58.9) was eighth lady.

V60 Mike Ede posted 20:26.8, with Ella Bur­fitt (20:37.7), Sarah Shep­pard (20:38.9) and Caro­line Cot­terell (20:45.4) com­plet­ing the 39-strong Har­ri­ers con­tin­gent.

At the Bour­ton one-mile, Mark James (4:51) was sec­ond vet­eran, Schofield recorded 5:08 and Paul Barnes stopped the clock at 6:00.

Ge­orge Wat­son posted 4:16.5 as he won the B mile race at the BMC re­gional meet­ing in Ox­ford.

Wight (16:50) was first at the Chel­tenham parkrun where Ge­or­gia Palmer (22:11) and Kayla Gar­land (22:50) were sec­ond and third ladies and Dave Tom­lin (17:57) sec­ond at Wot­ton.
