Hammers young­sters set to visit in Tro­phy

CHEL­TENHAM Town will play West Ham United’s Un­der-23s in the group stage of the 2019/20 EFL Tro­phy.

The other two teams in South­ern Group E are Ex­eter City and Newport County AFC.

The Robins have faced the Hammers twice in the EFL Cup sec­ond round in re­cent years, los­ing at Up­ton Park in 2013/14 and at Whad­don Road two sea­sons ago.

FOR­MER Chel­tenham Town striker Mo Eisa net­ted his sec­ond goal in three pre-sea­son games as Peter­bor­ough United de­feated Ket­ter­ing Town 2-1.

The club’s record sign­ing from Bris­tol City headed in a cross from Joe Ward at the near post a minute be­fore half-time to make it 1-0 to Dar­ren Fer­gu­son’s side.

Eisa also found the net in their open­ing warm-up match, a 2-0 vic­tory over Scot­tish Pre­mier League side St Mir­ren in La Manga.

IN the first round of the 2019/20 Glouces­ter­shire Se­nior Chal­lenge Cup, Chel­tenham Town are away to Slim­bridge, who knocked them out on penal­ties at the Jonny-rocks Sta­dium in last sea­son’s com­pe­ti­tion.

Cirences­ter Town host Yate Town and Bishop’s Cleeve go to Man­gots­field United.

ED Wil­liams is be­ing courted by Cham­pi­onship clubs in­clud­ing Swansea City and Birmingham City, ac­cord­ing to re­ports.

Peter­bor­ough are also thought to be keen on the Chel­tenham-born at­tack­ing mid­fielder.

The for­mer Chel­tenham Town pro­fes­sional is on the books of Na­tional League North club Kid­der­min­ster Har­ri­ers and has 13 goals and six as­sists in 36 ap­pear­ances for them since join­ing them from Glouces­ter City.
