Hammers youngsters set to visit in Trophy
CHELTENHAM Town will play West Ham United’s Under-23s in the group stage of the 2019/20 EFL Trophy.
The other two teams in Southern Group E are Exeter City and Newport County AFC.
The Robins have faced the Hammers twice in the EFL Cup second round in recent years, losing at Upton Park in 2013/14 and at Whaddon Road two seasons ago.
FORMER Cheltenham Town striker Mo Eisa netted his second goal in three pre-season games as Peterborough United defeated Kettering Town 2-1.
The club’s record signing from Bristol City headed in a cross from Joe Ward at the near post a minute before half-time to make it 1-0 to Darren Ferguson’s side.
Eisa also found the net in their opening warm-up match, a 2-0 victory over Scottish Premier League side St Mirren in La Manga.
IN the first round of the 2019/20 Gloucestershire Senior Challenge Cup, Cheltenham Town are away to Slimbridge, who knocked them out on penalties at the Jonny-rocks Stadium in last season’s competition.
Cirencester Town host Yate Town and Bishop’s Cleeve go to Mangotsfield United.
ED Williams is being courted by Championship clubs including Swansea City and Birmingham City, according to reports.
Peterborough are also thought to be keen on the Cheltenham-born attacking midfielder.
The former Cheltenham Town professional is on the books of National League North club Kidderminster Harriers and has 13 goals and six assists in 36 appearances for them since joining them from Gloucester City.
