Long car­ries on his good road sea­son

DAR­REN Long was first home for Bour­ton at the Red Hart Blais­don 10k, or­gan­ised by For­est of Dean Ath­letic Club.

Long, who has been en­joy­ing a suc­cess­ful sea­son, fin­ished strong in 38:12 and 1st MV45 (10th over­all).

Other Bour­ton run­ners were John Gib­son (49:15), Su­san Hunt 1st LV50 (49:15) and Gill Carrick (54:47).

The Horn­ton Classic 6, or­gan­ised by Cher­well Run­ners and Jog­gers, was the eighth event in this year’s Bour­ton Roadrunner­s’ club race se­ries.

Lead­ing the Bour­ton team home was Ni­amh Shoe­mark (42:55), fin­ish­ing first LV45 and sec­ond lady over­all.

Bour­ton’s Duathlon world cham­pion, Mar­garet Hol­lamby, made light­work of the hills to win the LV65 cat­e­gory in a re­spectable 48:36.

Fa­ther and son duo of John and Alan Gib­son had de­cided share the bur­den by run­ning to­gether, dad just man­ag­ing to cross the line first by a short­head, fin­ish­ing in 49:54 and 49:53 re­spec­tively (the won­ders of chip­ti­m­ing).

Close on their heels was Su­san Hunt, who fin­ished in 50:49.

John Hard­ing, who has re­cently joined the club, had a good run in 53:21, with Gill Carrick com­plet­ing the team in 54:10 and fourth LV55.

At the Im­mor­tal Far­moor 10k Long was third in 37:32, col­lect­ing a tro­phy for sec­ond MV40.
