Stod­dart starts re­cov­ery

LO­GAN Stod­dart be­gan his re­cov­ery from a dou­ble frac­ture of his right leg with his first phys­io­ther­apy ses­sion on Mon­day.

The full-back broke his tibia and fibula dur­ing Worces­ter Raiders’ pre-sea­son friendly against for­mer his club Bishop’s Cleeve at Kayte Lane a week ago.

He was taken to Glouces­ter­shire Royal Hospi­tal and un­der­went surgery on Fri­day.

“My phone hasn’t stopped and I can’t thank every­one enough,” he said.

“I’d like to say a spe­cial thanks to Worces­ter Raiders for their sup­port and also to Kirk Lay­ton (team mate), Chris Cornes (as­sis­tant man­ager), Karl Gorm­ley (man­ager) and my girl­friend Shan­non Doo­ley.

“Jeyno (as­sis­tant man­ager Matt Jeynes) and Sooty (man­ager Steve Cleal) have also been in touch from Cleeve.”

Stod­dart is likely to be off work for at least two months.

“I am a self-em­ployed Tar­ma­c­cer so it’s go­ing to af­fect my earn­ings mas­sively,” he said.

“I should be able to get back to light du­ties in eight to 10 weeks.”

Stod­dart, who lives in Worces­ter, was due to re­turn home on Tues­day or Wed­nes­day.
