No such thing as our democratic society

Gloucestershire Echo - - LETTERS & OPINION - Alan Kultschar Tuffley

✒ I REFER to the letter by Dr. Richard House in the Echo (July 25) where he states that the right-wing media’s disgraceful chosen approach to destroy Jeremy Corbyn and based on anti-semitism issues as an outrage in a democratic society.

What democratic society? Normally, I would agree with him, except for the fact that Parliament in three years has not recognised the democratic vote of the people to leave the EU.

In addition, Jeremy Corbyn himself on July 25 stated on television: “The vote we need is the vote of the people and reject Brexit.”

This is also the position of Jo Swinson, the new leader of the Liberal Democrats.

May I propose that in future all MPS be required to accept a Sworn Democratic Oath prior to taking their seat in Parliament for them to understand the meaning of democracy?
