Triathlete Carr sprints to finish in Russia

» FOLLOWING a busy few weeks of racing, and with club members building up to the Bugatti 10km on August 7, it’s been a quiet racing week for the Almost Athletes.

Shaun Carr is slowly becoming a globe trotter as he competes for Great Britain around Europe - this week he completed the Triathlon sprint European Championsh­ips in Kazan, Russia.

Ceri Schofield completed the Tough Runner half marathon in the Afan Forest, finishing as fifth lady overall and second in her category.

Christophe­r Benjamin is also showing remarkable consistenc­y clocking another two-hour half marathon at the Down Tow Up Flow Half along the river Thames.

Allan Green completed the Twilight Marathon in Ilford with the course comprising 20 laps of a cycle track in 4:52 while Ingrid Harris completed a marathon at the Cider Frolic in 4:17.

In the Harriers Summer Open, Matt Polson competed in the 3000m, finishing second in the B race with a time of 10:46, good enough for eighth place overall.

At Cheltenham parkrun, Matt Hickman ran a personal best of 19:34 as did Dunc Mounsor in 20:47 and Sharmila Door in 27.39.

Dave Nelson tackled the second hardest parkrun in the UK, Churchfiel­ds Farm, defeating it in a time of 36 minutes flat.

Claire Hawes was first in her age category at Exmouth, Piotr Michalski ran at Berlin Hasenheide parkrun, Rich Smith (and buggy) at St Albans, Alison and Rob Hume at Teignmouth, Peter Morris at Colby Woodland parkrun and Lynne Macedo at Penrhyn Castle.
