Triath­lete Carr sprints to fin­ish in Rus­sia

» FOL­LOW­ING a busy few weeks of rac­ing, and with club mem­bers build­ing up to the Bu­gatti 10km on Au­gust 7, it’s been a quiet rac­ing week for the Al­most Ath­letes.

Shaun Carr is slowly be­com­ing a globe trot­ter as he com­petes for Great Bri­tain around Eu­rope - this week he com­pleted the Triathlon sprint Eu­ro­pean Cham­pi­onships in Kazan, Rus­sia.

Ceri Schofield com­pleted the Tough Run­ner half marathon in the Afan For­est, fin­ish­ing as fifth lady over­all and sec­ond in her cat­e­gory.

Christo­pher Ben­jamin is also show­ing re­mark­able con­sis­tency clock­ing an­other two-hour half marathon at the Down Tow Up Flow Half along the river Thames.

Al­lan Green com­pleted the Twi­light Marathon in Il­ford with the course com­pris­ing 20 laps of a cy­cle track in 4:52 while In­grid Har­ris com­pleted a marathon at the Cider Frolic in 4:17.

In the Har­ri­ers Sum­mer Open, Matt Pol­son com­peted in the 3000m, fin­ish­ing sec­ond in the B race with a time of 10:46, good enough for eighth place over­all.

At Chel­tenham parkrun, Matt Hick­man ran a per­sonal best of 19:34 as did Dunc Moun­sor in 20:47 and Sharmila Door in 27.39.

Dave Nel­son tack­led the sec­ond hard­est parkrun in the UK, Church­fields Farm, de­feat­ing it in a time of 36 min­utes flat.

Claire Hawes was first in her age cat­e­gory at Ex­mouth, Piotr Michal­ski ran at Ber­lin Hasen­heide parkrun, Rich Smith (and buggy) at St Al­bans, Ali­son and Rob Hume at Teign­mouth, Peter Morris at Colby Wood­land parkrun and Lynne Macedo at Pen­rhyn Cas­tle.
