Gloucestershire Echo - - CRICKET -

» CAIN & Fuller CDCA League leaders Oaksey lost to Minety & Northleach.

Oaksey lost both openers to Dave Gould (2-30) then two further wickets to Stuart Hobbs (2-53).

Dan Horton (78) and Phil Cassrels (52) led a recovery but Ajj Gopal (3-43) took wickets at the death to restrict Oaksey to 233-9.

The response was led by Giles Wellman (91) and skipper Tony Gardner (82) and although Andy Steward (2-29) made the breakthrough the visitors eased to victory with eight balls to spare.

Fairford II needed a win against Avening & Cherington to ease their relegation worries but a fine opening spell from Tom Redpath (3-29) put them in trouble.

An stand between Marc Thomas (69) and Richard Young (45) put Fairford back in the game although K Drew (2-21) helped restrict them to 188-8.

The Avening response got off to an uncertain start as early wickets fell to Marc Thomas (2-22).

However Richard Harvey (108*) and his P Carter (51*) powered the visitors to victory.

Ashton Keynes got off to a great start against Oakridge as Greg Buckle (106, 18 fours) and Jamie Collister (25) flourished.

Good spells from Byron Williams (2-27) and Mark Robbins (2-28) kept the hosts in check but skipper Mike Abbley (24) helped push the final score along to 221-7.

The Oakridge response was built around an second wicket partnership between Martin Smith (84, eight fours and eight sixes) and Ed Bryant (49, 10 fours).

When this partnership was broken Oakridge were in a dominant position and, despite the efforts of Liam Hindmarch (2-39), they cruised to a comfortable win.

Rain prevented any meaningful play in the Longborough & Sezincote v South Cerney match.

A reduced over match started but the rain returned resulting in an abandonment.
