Oaksey come unstuck with Minety defeat

Oaksey lost both openers to Dave Gould (2-30) then two further wickets to Stuart Hobbs (2-53).

Dan Horton (78) and Phil Cassrels (52) led a recovery but Ajj Gopal (3-43) took wickets at the death to restrict Oaksey to 233-9.

The response was led by Giles Wellman (91) and skipper Tony Gardner (82) and although Andy Steward (2-29) made the breakthrou­gh the visitors eased to victory with eight balls to spare.

Fairford II needed a win against Avening & Cherington to ease their relegation worries but a fine opening spell from Tom Redpath (3-29) put them in trouble.

An stand between Marc Thomas (69) and Richard Young (45) put Fairford back in the game although K Drew (2-21) helped restrict them to 188-8.

The Avening response got off to an uncertain start as early wickets fell to Marc Thomas (2-22).

However Richard Harvey (108*) and his P Carter (51*) powered the visitors to victory.

Ashton Keynes got off to a great start against Oakridge as Greg Buckle (106, 18 fours) and Jamie Collister (25) flourished.

Good spells from Byron Williams (2-27) and Mark Robbins (2-28) kept the hosts in check but skipper Mike Abbley (24) helped push the final score along to 221-7.

The Oakridge response was built around an second wicket partnershi­p between Martin Smith (84, eight fours and eight sixes) and Ed Bryant (49, 10 fours).

When this partnershi­p was broken Oakridge were in a dominant position and, despite the efforts of Liam Hindmarch (2-39), they cruised to a comfortabl­e win.

Rain prevented any meaningful play in the Longboroug­h & Sezincote v South Cerney match.

A reduced over match started but the rain returned resulting in an abandonmen­t.
