Wasteful All Golds mauled by the Tigers

-

DESPITE a disciplined performance, the All Golds were beaten 48-12 by Torfaen Tigers at New Panteg RFC.

Only towards the end of the game did the All Golds begin to match the Tigers’ intensity and they were wasteful of possession.

After trailing 24-0 at the interval, the All Golds pulled a score back early in the second half but the turning point came when they were unable to take advantage of a superb Joe Uren break up the middle immediately after the restart and Torfaen scored in their next set to effectively seal the game.

Torfaen opened the scoring after just two minutes when Kurtis Haile touched down under the posts.

Cochran booted the first of his six goals for the day and Haile was to go on to score a hat-trick of tries as did wing Mathew Jones who grabbed his first on 10 minutes, when the home side capitalised on an All Golds’ error early in the tackle count.

Eavan Morris registered the Tigers’ third try but threw an elbow in trying to get up to play the ball and was sin-binned.

The Tigers survived the 10 minutes a man down and extended their lead though prop Darrel Moyle.

The All Golds were first on the board in the second half as Luke Kell weaved his way through for a score. Rhys Evans added the extras.

Uren made his break in the All Golds’ next set but the Tigers instantly extended their lead as Morris finished another slick handling move with his second try.

Haile struck twice in quick succession before Jones got in on the act as he scored his second try from the restart after Hailes’ hat-trick try.

Trailing 42-6, the All Golds began to find some joy with strong runs from Ash Lewis, Marcus Brown and Hector Silva and after a power drive from Lewis, the All Golds won a penalty and Kaine Dimech ran hard for the line.

The game finished with Jones racing to the posts to conclude a second convincing home win over the All Golds in the space of a month.
