Narraway links up with Ryan at Dragons
» FORMER Gloucester star Luke Narraway has been reunited with Dean Ryan at the Dragons.
The former England international has been appointed head coach of the region’s Celtic Cup side for the development competition.
Narraway played under former Gloucester head coach Ryan for a large part of his time at Kingsholm between 2003 and 2012, helping them twice finish top of the Premiership and win the European Challenge Cup during a successful period.
He joins the Dragons from Bordeaux, where he worked under new Gloucester skills coach Rory Teague as forwards coach, having started his coaching career towards the end of his playing days at Coventry.
Narraway will now head up the Dragons’ development side, who kick off their campaign away to Connacht Eagles in late August.
They also face home games against Munster, Scarlets, Ulster and Ospreys.
Also appointed to the coaching team of the Celtic Cup side is Geraint Lewis, who won 16 caps for Wales between 1998 and 2001.
“Luke is a person I know really well, having played for me during our time together at Gloucester, and he is a talented young coach who has spent the last few years with Bordeaux,” said Ryan, who joined the Dragons as director of rugby earlier this summer.
“He now has an opportunity for work with our Under-23s and we’re delighted that Geraint, who has huge knowledge of the talent pool in the region, is also working with us, with the full support of the WRU.”
