Tri­al­ist Bishop hits two

FOR­MER New­port County scholar Liam Bishop was on tar­get twice for Cirences­ter Town in their 6-2 friendly win over For­est Green Rovers Un­der-18s on Tues­day night.

For­ward Bishop, 18, is on now the books of Na­tional League North club Here­ford FC after im­press­ing dur­ing pre-sea­son per­for­mances for the Bulls.

It is un­der­stood that he could make a loan switch to South­ern League Divi­sion One South Cirences­ter to con­tinue his de­vel­op­ment.

Bishop scored the Cen­tu­ri­ons’ third goal against For­est Green early in the sec­ond pe­riod after a first half brace from sum­mer sign­ing Josh Par­sons.

Jack Free­man added the fourth be­fore Rovers’ young­sters pulled one back at the Corinium Stadium.

Bishop then net­ted his sec­ond, fol­lowed by sub­sti­tute Tommy Ouldridge’s strike ei­ther side of a de­flected ef­fort for the away side.

For­mer Chel­tenham Town and Bishop’s Cleeve goal­keeper Lewis Clay­ton also started the game, with ex-robins scholar Tyreece Briscoe go­ing on from the bench in the 65th minute.
