CHEL­TENHAM Half Marathon or­gan­iser James Crack­nell is the lat­est star to be con­firmed for this year’s se­ries of the hit BBC TV show Strictly Come Danc­ing.

Dou­ble Olympic cham­pion rower James and his team Run Joy Ltd be­came the new event or­gan­is­ers of Chel­tenham’s half marathon in 2017.

This year’s event will be based at Chel­tenham Race­course on Septem­ber 29 and James plans to run it.

On Good Morning Bri­tain on Tues­day, Ben Shep­hard and Kate Gar­raway an­nounced he would be tak­ing part amid the ru­mours.

Speak­ing about do­ing the se­ries, James said his big­gest chal­lenge would be to let go and al­low him­self to “look silly”.

He ex­plained: “The big­gest chal­lenge for me is gonna be to give my­self per­mis­sion to look stupid, fail, let my­self off the leash.”

On train­ing, he teased: “I think it starts kick­ing off very soon, I’ve started to stretch a bit.”

He also had no prob­lem with the fa­mous Strictly out­fits, claim­ing he was used to the Ly­cra.

Ra­dio 1 DJ Dev Grif­fin has also been con­firmed for the line-up of 15 celebri­ties.

Dad-of-three James was awarded an OBE for ser­vices to sport in the 2005 New Years Hon­ours List.
