Councillors take no notice of voters
✒ FOLLOWING two articles in last week’s Echo, I felt I had to write about the councillors on Cheltenham Borough Council.
First of all we have the intended removal of garden waste from the recycling centre in Swindon Road.
It is stated there will be a survey before this takes place, but the site will be closed for a day in August for improvement work.
This will undoubtedly mean any survey will be useless as the council will make alterations.
We used to have free collections of garden waste but the council changed this to brown bins you have to pay for.
I live on an estate and use the recycling centre two or three times a week and as the council only collects green waste fortnightly, I would need two or three bins.
I wonder if the council would supply me with three bins for the cost of one?
The other point I wish to make is about Councillor Mckinlay’s column about Boots Corner.
Other than from fellow councillors, I have yet to hear any agreement from friends or business people that the idea was ever a good one.
Once again, our councillors don’t take any notice of the people who elected them.
Unfortunately, I expect the councillors will be elected again as voters vote for the parties and not the person they are electing. R E Dine Cheltenham
