Watson continues fine form with 3000m PB

CHELTENHAM Harrier George Watson continued his excellent form, running a PB for 3000m at the University of Birmingham.

THE Loughborou­gh student came third in a close race to finish in a time of 8:28.22.

IN the same race Richard de-camps ran 8:49.06, just outside his seasons best.

At the final Midland League fixture at Wolverhamp­ton, Dom James also kept up his good form with a PB over 1500m in 4:07.10.

Alex Lindfield also ran a PB over 3000m with 9:40 to finish sixth while Caroline Cotterell ran 5:33.20 in the 1500m and Rachel See 11:36.20 in the 3000m. Imola Asztalos came second in the 400m in a time of 58.60.

On the roads, Phil Wylie came 4 th at the Barry Island 10k in 31.10 and at the Beacon Inn Haresfield 5k, Under 15 Kiya Dee ran impressive­ly to finish first lady overall in a 18.27.

Mark James was first V40 in 17.35 to place fifth overall, while Dave Rantell was second V50 in 18.30 and Nick Holliday won the V60 category in 18.47.

Jacob Howes 19.29, Taya Dee 20.18, Mike Ede 21.27 and Kathryn Morton 22.40 completed a strong Harrier’s contingent.

At the Severn AC Pilot Inn 5K James claimed second place in 17.02, behind winner Steve Kenyon of Gloucester AC. Dan Schofield in fifth stopped the clock at 17.41 with Gareth Edwards chasing in 17.49, Ian Giles was the fourth Harrier home in 11th with 19.03.

Parkruns saw several Harrier’s win including Alex Lee at Cheltenham in 16.19 followed by James Bingham in second (16.44).

Andrew Kaighin won at Gloucester City, and there were firsts for Marc Fallows at Cirenceste­r in 17.14, Matt Lambourne, 19.04 (Millfield), Charlie Jones, 17.21 (Hereford) with Chris Cleary a close second in 17.29.

Kaitlyn Sheppard was first overall at Tewkesbury (19.19), with sister Chloe second and mum Sarah thi rd lady.

Dad Kevin also claimed second overall to add to family success.

Beth Hawling was first lady at Mile End in 17.29. Jamie Penton was third at Chippenham in 17.54, Ian Giles came fourth at Gloucester North (19.57) and Ryan Berry ran 19.24 in San Francisco.
