County medals for Almost pair

THE Gloucester 5km race in Haresfield was attended by more than 30 members of Almost Athletes.

Matt Polson was first Almost to cross the line in 12th with a time of 18.26, followed by Matt Hickman in 19.09 and Jean-philippe Villaincha­stre in 19.56.

For the ladies, Helena Youde finished in 21.18, Louise Inchley in 25.02 and Sophie Langley in 25.21.

Youde was presented with a gold Gloucester­shire county medal and Matt Polson with silver.

A number of members took part in events overseas.

Andrew Wilkinson completed the Malta 10km night run in 52.44 while Piotr Michalski ran the Biegsw Dominika 5km race in Gdansk, Poland, in 21.49.

Karla Cleverley travelled all the way to Taupo, New Zealand to take part in her first marathon which she finished in 7:17.

A small group of Almosts took part in the Barry Island 10km with Josh Rimmel crossing the line in 52.13, Dave Mayo in 55.16. Deb Cartlidge in 56.04, and Iris Mayo in 1:13.

Julianne Jameson completed the Broadmeado­w Runs Aston Subedge Marathon, an off-road event with 2,200 feet of ascent, in 6:15.

Ingrid Harris and Allan Green ran the Vanguard Way Marathon in Croydon with Harris third lady to finish with a time of 4:34, whilst Green ran a slightly longer distance in 6:40.

At Cheltenham parkrun, Josh Hand came 12th with a time of 18:59 and there was a PB for Felicity Read with 29.44.

Ben Taylor was second at Newent parkrun with 20.25, whilst Maisie Markham was second lady at Anacostia, Washington DC with 27.28.

Patricia Peever was sixth lady in Gloucester City with 26.04 and Almosts were also running at the inaugural Ross-on-wye event, Barry Island, Cirenceste­r, Clermont Waterfront in Florida, Golynia in Poland, Houghton Hall, Ormeau in South Belfast, Portsmouth Lakeside, Prospect, Street in Somerset, Witney, Wootton, and Wycombe Rye.

Four Almosts travelled to the capital to take part in Ride London 2019, a 100 mile cycle ride and Dave Chittock, Michelle Balchin, Nicky Woodman and Helen Fursman-reid successful­ly completed the ride.
