» JACK Watts scored three and set up the other as Bishop’s Cleeve picked up their first victory of the season beating Gloucestershire rivals Tuffley Rovers 4-0 at Kayte Lane on Tuesday night.

His first was a superb volley in the eighth minute after Adam Mace’s freekick into the box was headed to him inside the box.

Watts missed a good chance to make it 2-0 in the 10th minute, but Tuffley then dug in and it remained 1-0 at the break.

They had to wait until the hour mark to extend their lead, with Watts latching onto a long goal kick straight down the middle of the pitch from Mat Wieczorek and finishing calmly past Alex Avenell.

Watts then turned creator, unselfishly setting up former Tuffley man Liam Wright for Cleeve’s third goal in the 62nd minute.

But Watts completed his hat-trick three minutes later, tapping in after a corner from Mace on the right.

Goals from Ellis Dunton, Connor Thompson and Callum Preece gave Fairford Town a second win of the season as they were 3-1 victors at Lydney Town.

Jody Bevan’s side are one of four teams with a 100 per cent record after two games, along with Westfields, Binfield and Reading City.

Cleeve had lost their opening day fixture on Saturdayas Ardley United came from behind to take a 2-1 win.

Cleeve had new signings Steve Davies and Luke Payne in the line-up and went in front when Wright ignored the advancing ovelapping run from captain Adam Mace to drill the ball home from 20 yards out.

Tthe Mitres hit the bar through an Ash Davies header from a corner then had an effort cleared off the line and forced the keeper into a great save.

However the second goal eluded them and on 44 minutes Payne misjudged the flight of a ball over his head and Twariq Yusuf was through on goal to level the score.

The game looked to be heading for a draw until on 85 minutes Cleeve were awarded a throw-in near to their area and lost possession with Callum Harvey firing home to win the game for Ardley.

After a goalless first half, Fairford Town ran out 3-0 winners at Burnham with goals from Ben Lodge, Harvey Scholes and Dan Bailey.

Division One West new boys Bourton Rovers lost their first game 1-0 in a tightly-contested affair with Wellington, Matt Williams scoring the winner.

Cheltenham Saracens fell behind to Gael Basana’s goal for Tytherington Rocks but came back to win 4-1 with goals from Adam Loveridge (two), a Kai Mahon penalty and Harlie Price.

Cleeve play Easington Sports in the extra preliminary round of the FA Cup on Saturday, Fairford Town host Enfield 1893 while Cheltenham Saracens have a trip to Newport Pagnell Town.
