Morrell makes step up with Wales selection
» Bristol City’s former Cheltenham Town loanee Joe Morrell has received his first competitive senior call-up for Wales.
The 22-year-old midfielder shone for the Robins during the 2017/18 season, making 38 League Two appearances and scoring three goals.
Morrell is on loan at League One Lincoln City and he has been listed in Ryan Giggs’ 26-man squad for the upcoming fixtures against Azerbaijan and Belarus.
Azerbaijan visit the Cardiff City Stadium on September 6 in a Euro 2020 qualifier before Wales host Belarus in a friendly three days later.
Morrell, who has made one Championship appearance for his parent club as a substitute, is one of three uncapped players in the squad.
Central defender Joe Rodon, who appeared on loan for Cheltenham from Swansea City during the second half of 2017/18, is also included.
