PLANT OF THE WEEK
BEGONIA ‘WHITE GIANT’
I SAW this plant recently in a shady courtyard garden. Its brilliant white flowers illuminated the space more than any artificial light could.
It’s a trailing variety, so ideal for pots and hanging baskets.
In full flower now, it should keep going until frosts.
Then, if growing in the ground, they should be lifted, or brought under cover if in pots.
Leave to die back and store dry over winter. Pot up the tubers in early spring and plant after frost.
