New seven-seat SUV from Mercedes

PRICES for the new sev­enseat Mercedes-benz GLB com­pact SUV will start from £34,200 when the first mod­els ar­rive in De­cem­ber.

The range will top out at £45,950 for a GLB 220 d 4MATIC AMG Line Pre­mium Plus and all mod­els in the range will come with three rows of seats with the ex­cep­tion 220 d 4MATIC AMG Line Pre­mium which can be had with five. That one is priced from £42,200 and the line up starts with the GLB 200 Sport, pow­ered by a 163 hp, four-cylin­der petrol en­gine.

Diesel vari­ants – which can be had ei­ther with fron­twheel-drive or as a 4x4 and come with eight-speed au­to­matic trans­mis­sions – are priced from £36,800 and use a 2.0-litre en­gine with 150hp giv­ing a 0 to 62 ac­cel­er­a­tion time of nine sec­onds and fuel fig­ures of 56.5mpg or 51.4 for the all-wheel-drive vari­ant. Stan­dard safety and as­sis­tance equip­ment in­cludes ac­tive brake as­sist, ac­tive bon­net, ac­tive lane keep­ing as­sist, at­ten­tion as­sist, speed limit as­sist, and key­less-go lock­ing and un­lock­ing.

Pre­mium mod­els come as stan­dard with a park­ing pack­age, in­clud­ing re­vers­ing cam­era and park­ing sen­sors, pre-in­stal­la­tion for trailer cou­pling as well as aug­mented real­ity nav­i­ga­tion with a 10.25-inch in­fo­tain­ment dis­play and 10.25-inch dig­i­tal cock­pit screen.
