Payne strike decides derby clash for Cleeve
» LUKE Payne’s strike midway through the first half gave Bishop’s Cleeve a 1-0 win at Brimscombe and Thrupp on Tuesday night.
Both sides created numerous chances in a match that saw 48 shots but the only one taken came when Steve Davies’ low driven shot hit the far post and Payne was there to convert on the rebound.
Fairford Town hit back from two goals down at half-time to beat Longlevens 3-2 at Cinder Lane.
Longlevens led through Brad Martin and Harry Emmett but Ellis Dunton, a Callum Preece penalty and Connor Thompson turned the game round.
Fairford will host Shortwood United in the FA Vase after thrashing Abingdon Town 5-1 on Saturday.
Jody Bevan’s side were only 1-0 up at the break thanks to Thompson’s strike but Abingdon drew level.
Preece restored the advantage from the penalty spot and Jon Thomas made it 3-1 before Thompson struck twice more to complete his hat-trick and wrap up the victory.
Cheltenham Saracens were beaten 6-2 at Thornbury Town.
Harry Brock, Jim Brock and Craig Lancastle opened up a 3-0 lead by the 40th minute before Kai Mahon pulled one back from the penalty spot.
Goalkeeper Kurtis Parkin was sin-binned for appealing and step in goalie Brandon Benjamin was unable to save the kick.
After the break, Rhys Hodgson made it 4-1 before a Lancastle penalty made it five.
Harlie Price netted for Saracens with five minutes left before Jacob Farthing made it six.
